One of the major factors that contributes to a house being kept clean or not is whether you and the things in the house are organised well.
Firstly you must have some form of cleaning routine organised that it is sufficient to be able to stay on top of the amount of dirt and mess that is created by your household. If you are a large family then you will need to be more organised to stay on top of the cleaning than if you are a single person living on your own.
The best way to organise you and others in the house to ensure it is kept clean and organised is to give people their own jobs to do and also to put in place a rota of what needs to be done and when. Some jobs will be daily jobs such as washing up and some may be weekly jobs such as vacuuming the floors.
Once you have organised yourself and the other house members well you should then review how well your house is organised. If you do not have an organised house then it can often be hard for it to ever look fully clean.
You should therefore start by reviewing all your belongings and throwing things out that you do not use. You can either give these to the local charity shop, recycle them or just take them to the rubbish dump to get rid of them. Have a rule with clothes that if you haven’t worn them for 12 months then they should be moved out of the house.
Once you have done this you should choose a place for each set of belongings to be stored away. If you do not have enough storage then go and buy some cheap crates and boxes so you can put everything away. If putting things away in boxes and into cupboards then write on the boxes what is in there for ease of reference when you are looking for something.
Once you get yourself and your belongings organised in this way you will find your house will always be clean and uncluttered.
